With accreditation as a breathwork practitioner by IIOHT, my expertise lies in aiding high-achieving individuals in managing stress, anxiety, and attaining a state of focused flow through holistic methods. Within this piece, we delve into the notion of "Disparity in Impact Awareness" and delve into the reasons breathwork offers great prospects for enhancing our comprehensive well-being.



Comprehending the Disparity in Impact Awareness


I've been pondering a concept that I'd like to term as the "Disparity in Impact Awareness." Allow me to elaborate. For each fundamental aspect of well-being, we essentially calculate the difference between its overall influence on health and mindset, compared to the average level of awareness within the community about that particular practice. You might be curious about how one can possibly measure these factors, and although I typically lean towards data and scientific approaches, I can concede that this exercise leans more toward theoretical contemplation. Nevertheless, the essence remains valid, as you'll soon understand. Let's take into account the four primary cornerstones of well-being: exercise, diet, sleep, and indeed, breathing


Exercise

Movement undoubtedly plays a crucial role in our well-being. Particularly in recent decades, when technological advancements demand more conscious effort, people have become increasingly aware of its importance.


Diet

Many assert that our well-being commences with what we nourish our bodies with. Regrettably, education concerning diet remains suboptimal, especially given the prevalence of processed foods, lack of transparency, and limited accessibility in underserved communities.


Sleep

In simple terms, inadequate sleep can lead to chemical imbalances affecting various aspects, from our physical mobility to our dietary cravings. However, the broader understanding and recognition of sleep's significance have only recently started gaining the recognition it deserves.


Breathwork

The breath acts as the engine for our entire body—without it, there would be no consumption, movement, or regulation of physiological processes. Pranayama, the practice of breath control, literally translates to 'vital life force'. Interestingly, breathing operates both consciously and subconsciously, which might explain why it often goes unnoticed as a wellness practice.


While I do recognize my personal inclination as a breathwork coach, the core message remains valid. A substantial disparity exists between the profound influence that proper breathing and breathwork techniques can exert on our holistic well-being and the general recognition of this approach. Given that the average person takes more than 20 thousand breaths daily, even modest enhancements can yield remarkable outcomes.


Sustaining a harmonious equilibrium among these pillars is of utmost importance—consuming well, moving mindfully, and slumbering effectively. However, it's worth pondering the following: although we can survive 50 days without food and 5 days without water, we can only endure 5 minutes without breath; doesn't this prioritization of our most essential need make sense?


Now that we possess this awareness, let's inhale deeply.
